Budget 2024: The Assembly rejects the LFI motion of censure, the text adopted at first reading
Same strategy, same result. The National Assembly rejected on the night of Thursday to Friday, in an almost deserted hemicycle, the motion of censure of La France insoumise filed in response to 49.3 triggered by Elisabeth Borne on the “expenses” part and the entire project finance law for the 2024 budget.
This 24th motion of censure against the Prime Minister obtained 167 votes, far from the 289 required to bring down the government. This rejection constitutes adoption at first reading of the Finance Bill (PLF). The text will now continue its journey to the Senate, where it is expected in the chamber from November 23.
It was far from won. The European Parliament and the member states of the European Union (EU) reached an agreement on Thursday on a key legislative project on the restoration of nature and biodiversity, which stumbled in particular on the question of agriculture.
The text will require member countries to implement measures to restore nature on at least 20% of the Union’s lands and marine spaces by 2030, according to a press release from the European Council, which represents the 27 member states. In connection with the Kunming-Montreal international agreement (COP15 Biodiversity), the legislation will require the Twenty-Seven to restore at least 30% of damaged habitats by 2030, then 60% by 2040 and 90% by 2050 .
