Australia’s tennis selection has become the first team to reach the final of the Davis Cup finals in Malaga. The 28-time winner defeated last year’s finalists Croatia 2-1 and reached for the trophy for the first time in 19 years.

Australia’s tennis selection has become the first team to reach the final of the Davis Cup finals in Malaga. The 28-time winner defeated last year’s finalists Croatia 2-1 and reached for the trophy for the first time in 19 years.

Opponents in the final on Sunday are Italy and Canada, who defeated Germany 2-1 on Thursday evening.

In the first semifinal match, Borna Coric put Croatia ahead with a 6:4, 6:3 against Thanasi Kokkinakis. After that, Alex de Minaur equalized 6-2, 6-2 against 34-year-old veteran Marin Cilic. In the decisive doubles, Jordan Thomson and Max Purcell won 6:7 (3:7), 7:5 and 6:4 against Mate Pavic and Nikola Mektic.
