Teachers, police officers, cashiers … priority professions can be vaccinated regardless of age

The vaccination against Covid opens a little more before May 31. Since Monday, priority professions – teachers, police officers, gendarmes, cashiers or bus drivers – can now be vaccinated without age conditions. This was a long-standing demand from teachers in particular.

This “strong acceleration” is “allowed by the fact that we will receive a lot of doses by the end of June, so we must have the highest possible vaccination rate”, assured Prime Minister Jean Castex during a trip to a vaccination center in Seine-Saint-Denis last week.

More than a third of the population has received at least one dose

Until now, vaccination was theoretically still subject to conditions for 18-50 year olds (the presence of comorbidities or making an appointment overnight). In practice, however, these obligations have been largely circumvented since no medical prescription is necessary.

As of the end of last week, 22.9 million people had received a first injection in the country, or more than a third of the total population (34.2%), of which 9.8 million were vaccinated with two doses.
