According to the public prosecutor’s office in Stralsund, a tax return from the controversial Foundation for Climate and Environmental Protection MV that was believed to be missing was burned.
In the case of the politically controversial foundation for climate and environmental protection MV, a tax officer from the responsible tax office in Ribnitz-Damgarten is said to have burned a tax return from the foundation. This is reported by the political magazine “Cicero”. The woman is said to have acted out of concern for personal consequences. According to the magazine, this is the result of investigations by the Stralsund public prosecutor’s office, which are said to have been initiated by the tax office itself.
pressure on authorities
The tax return, which was believed to be lost, was also the basis for the question of whether a gift tax would have been necessary for the 20 million euros that flowed to the climate foundation as donations from the Russian gas company Gazprom. According to Cicero’s research, the payment should be avoided. According to the report, there was political pressure on the authorities in this context.
Originally, two tax returns were considered missing. Because of the state-owned foundation and the commitment to the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) is also under pressure.
