While we are still struggling with the delta variant of the coronavirus, a new mutant is already spreading: Omikron. First discovered in South Africa, experts assume that it has been spreading in Europe for weeks. How dangerous is this new variant?
SZ Corona expert Christina Berndt says that she has not yet been particularly concerned about Omikron: “I would say that we can still rely on our vaccination protection to a large extent.” Rather, it is now a question of breaking the fourth wave – and the measures to achieve this remain the same, regardless of whether it is delta or omicron.
