SZ podcast “Munich personally”: on the road with Kytes musician Tim Lush – Munich

Timothy Lush, drummer of the indie band Kytes, talks about the craziest tour idea, why concert tickets are so hard to sell in Munich – and how the former school band from Harlaching managed to become really successful.

Michael Player, Kerim Öke, Thomas Sedlacek and Timothy Lush – that’s the band from Munich Kytes. The musicians play their very own mix of indie, pop and rock. The former school friends are not only known in Munich: in 2016 they won the New Music Awards as the best young band of the ARD youth programs, they have released two albums and have their own Music label Frisbee Records founded and are currently being celebrated for their single “Mister Burns”.

Things seem to be going well for them again Kytes, after the four musicians were forced to quiet down during the corona pandemic. How did they put the time away? What special role did the band room play in this phase?

Timothy (short: Tim) Lush answers the questions on a drive from the Grünwalder Stadion through Harlaching and Giesing. The drummer talks about the crazy tour idea of ​​only performing in girls’ schools. He explains why Munich is a tough place for artists – and why they would never move to Berlin.
