Lukas Märtens reached the semi-finals of the 200 meter breaststroke at the World Swimming Championships as the fastest in the heats.
Lukas Märtens is with the World Swimming Championships as the fastest in the heats made it into the semi-finals of the 200 meter breaststroke.
A good 15 hours after his bronze medal over the double distance, the 22-year-old clocked 1:45.74 minutes in Doha, putting him ahead of his German national teammate Rafael Miroslaw, who also advanced. The 400 meter competition was still in Märtens’ bones. “It feels very hard. The race wasn’t that easy,” he said. “You have to go all-in with this field. You can’t play much poker there.”
Isabel Gose, who also took third place in the 400 meters on Sunday, was immediately challenged again. The 21-year-old reached the final in second place in the 1500 meter freestyle in 16:10.60 minutes. In the 100 meter backstroke, Ole Braunschweig qualified for the semi-finals in twelfth place in the heats in 54.11 seconds.
