In Rouen, a man was shot dead this Friday morning when he “obviously wanted to set fire to the city’s synagogue”, reports Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin on X (ex-Twitter).
“The man was armed with a knife and an iron bar, he approached the police who fired, the individual died,” a source close to the case told AFP.
“Thank you to the national forces, the municipal police, the SAMU, the firefighters who are currently controlling the outbreak of the fire”, indicates the mayor of the city Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol who sends his “thoughts and total support to the Jewish Community of Rouen”.
