The emergency services could do nothing to save him. A surfer died on Saturday morning in Préfailles, near Pointe Saint-Gildas, reports the Loire-Atlantique departmental fire and rescue service (Sdis).
Around 11 a.m., when the weather was rather calm, the victim was reported in difficulty by a witness on land, who saw him fall from his board and not come out of the water.
According to the Atlantic maritime prefecture, the surfer was quickly found, inanimate on rocks, by SNSM sea rescuers. Despite several resuscitation attempts, the man was pronounced dead. According to firefighters, he was around fifty years old.
