Illegal car racing in Munich: Student races through the city in a BMW – Munich

A Munich police civilian patrol took out a young man over the weekend who had turned the streets in the north of the city into his personal rally route. Drifting and sliding again and again, the 21-year-old raced through Milbertshofen in a luxury sedan weighing more than two tons.

Unfortunately for him – and fortunately for other road users – the would-be racing driver rushed from the parking lot of a supermarket on Schwarzhauptstrasse right in front of the hood of a civilian police patrol at around 1:15 a.m. on Sunday. The law enforcement officers had to slam on the brakes to avoid colliding with the swerving rear of the BMW 750, but then gave chase in the direction of Anton-Ditt-Bogen, Hufelandstrasse and Ingolstädter Strasse.

The officers estimated the speed of the limousine in front of them to be around 100 km/h. The officers were able to notice that the rear of the vehicle swerved again every time they turned. It is still unclear whether the 21-year-old did not have his BMW under control – or whether he deliberately oversteered the vehicle like a racing car.

It ended at the intersection with Frankfurter Ring. When the student from Munich had to stop at a red light, the police stopped the spectacle. The limousine, in which three minors were passengers, did not belong to the 21-year-old, but was a company car. How the young man got hold of the car now needs to be determined. The Munich resident can expect to be charged with a banned motor vehicle race, which is punishable by up to two years in prison or a fine.
