Microsoft delivers the dual-screen smartphone Surface Duo 2 with Android 11. Although applications from the Google Play Store run on the device, users have to do without many programs developed for desktop systems. It is not easily possible to install Windows on the Surface Duo 2. The developer Gustave Monce has now tried to start Windows 11 on the smartphone. This requires the adaptation of certain drivers and a manual installation.

In a video, the developer shows the Redmond operating system in action. Both screens are supported, so the desktop can be shown on one display and an app on another display. In a tweet, Gustave Monce emphasized that there would be no more graphic glitches with his installation. This alludes to bugs that have occurred in connection with the Surface Duo 2. If you want to use Windows 11 on your Surface Duo 2 yourself, you have to be patient. Gustave Monce has not yet published the necessary files.

Windows 10X installed on the Surface Duo

The Surface Duo 2 isn’t the only smartphone Gustave Monce has set his sights on. In April, the developer Windows 10X Running on the first version of the Surface Duo. The files required for this can already be found in the GitHub repository of the WOA project. It can be assumed that Gustave Monce will continue to work on such projects in the future and install software on other devices, although the programs should not actually work there.
