Up to 28 degrees and a large portion of sun: the early summer weather is persistent – at least almost everywhere. The start of the week will only be uncomfortable in the extreme west, southwest and south.

After an early summer Weekend with up to 28 degrees on Mother’s Day, the weather starts the new week with lots of sun almost everywhere. However, a shallow low pressure zone is transmitting from France, as the German Weather Service (DWD) announced.

Dense clouds will gather in the far west and southwest of Germany on Monday night. The chances of catching a glimpse of the northern lights there are slim. In the rest of the country, however, the DWD expects a slightly cloudy to clear night.

It remains uncomfortable in the far west, southwest and south of Germany on Monday: showers and sometimes strong thunderstorms are mixing up the weather there, according to the DWD. “Heavy rain can occur locally, and isolated storm-like developments with heavy rain cannot be ruled out,” said DWD meteorologist Florian Bilgeri.

Temperatures fluctuate within Germany

In the rest of the country, however, things remain calm and people can look forward to many sunny hours, according to the DWD. Temperatures will reach over 20 degrees almost everywhere, in some places even more than 25 degrees, according to the forecast.

According to the DWD, Tuesday also holds on to the sun in most of Germany. In the west and center of Germany, temperatures even rise to 28 degrees. “From the Eifel over the Palatinate to the Black Forest and on the edge of the Alps, showers and individual thunderstorms are occurring again, which can be more powerful again,” warned Bilgeri.

These will expand a little further towards the center on Wednesday. People in the southwest half have to prepare for sometimes strong thunderstorms. The northeast, on the other hand, gets a lot of sun. The temperatures vary just as much: According to the DWD, the southwest reaches a maximum of 18 degrees, while in Brandenburg it remains summery with a maximum of 27 degrees.
