Series end for “The Idol” with Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd

Megastars Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd will not be in front of the camera for another season of the series. According to the US broadcaster HBO, there will be no sequel to “The Idol”.
After one season of “The Idol” the series with the main actors is now coming to an end Lily-Rose Depp (24) and pop singer The Weeknd (33).
The US broadcaster HBO announced on Monday that after “careful consideration” there would be no second season. “The Idol” was one of the “most provocative” productions and thanks are due to the creators and the actors for their “incredible” work, the “Hollywood Reporter” quoted from the message.
Depp, the daughter of singer Vanessa Paradis and Hollywood star Johnny Depp, played pop singer Jocelyn, who, after a nervous breakdown and a failed tour, finds herself in a complicated relationship with seedy club owner and self-help guru Tedros (Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd). begins. Directed by Sam Levinson, who is known for the series “Euphoria” about a group of teenagers. There are explicit scenes in both productions, a lot about sex, drugs and abuse of power.
After the premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last May, the five-part series “The Idol” ran on the US channel HBO from June, in Germany it was on Sky and on the streaming service Wow.
