Storm and rain in Munich: numerous planes diverted – Munich

Due to the storm on Friday night, numerous planes that were supposed to land in Munich had to be diverted. An airport spokesman spoke on Friday morning of around 20 flights that could not land between Thursday 7 p.m. and Friday 2 a.m. These were distributed to surrounding airports.

60 flights were cancelled. There should be further delays at Munich Airport by noon, some flights to other European countries have been canceled according to the airport website.

Lightning was also seen over the Bavarian state parliament.

The police have little to report from Munich on Friday morning. “It was mostly quiet,” says a spokesman. Only one traffic light at Leonrodplatz failed. In the evening, a street in Aubing was flooded for around 50 meters.

The German Weather Service is still warning of gusts of wind with speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour for the city and district of Munich on Friday. The warning is in effect until 4 p.m.
