Stéphane Séjourné reaffirms that Palestinians “have the right to a state”

As the war continues between Israel and Hamas, Paris continues to advocate for a two-state solution. The Palestinians “have the right to sovereignty and to a state”, declared the head of French diplomacy Stéphane Séjourné on Saturday.

“France will remain faithful to its commitment to achieve this goal,” wrote Stéphane Séjourné on in Gaza and believing that Israel must maintain “control of the security of the Palestinian territory”.

Netanyahu unyielding

Israel must “ensure that Gaza no longer poses a threat” and this requirement “contradicts the demand for Palestinian sovereignty”, explained Benjamin Netanyahu during a telephone interview on Friday with US President Joe Biden, according to the Prime Minister’s Office .

The United States and Europe are pleading in favor of a two-state solution, which is opposed by the Israeli government, engaged in a war against Palestinian Hamas in Gaza, after the bloody attack on October 7 carried out by the terrorist movement in Israel.

This unprecedented attack resulted in the deaths of 1,140 people, the majority civilians. The Israeli response in Gaza has left nearly 25,000 dead, the vast majority of them women, children and adolescents, according to the Hamas Ministry of Health.
