The then boss of the Ingolstadt-based Volkswagen subsidiary Audi was taken into custody because he is said to have tried to obstruct the investigation into the emissions affair. Stadler contradicted this suspicion; and later all allegations that he was guilty of cheating on Audi customers. By allowing dirty cars to continue being sold as clean vehicles after the diesel scam was exposed.
