For three weeks, the SPD and the Left have been negotiating the coalition agreement in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Now you have presented the 77-page work in Schwerin.
SPD and left in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania have in Schwerin the draft coalition agreement presented for their planned joint state government. For three weeks, representatives from both parties laid the foundation for cooperation over the next five years. It is a “strong contract”, said Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD), he will move the country forward. The political projects are about common concerns. Simone Oldenburg, who headed the left-wing negotiating group as the state parliamentary group leader, also emphasized that there was no dispute during the negotiations. She also promised for the next five years: “We will not be a quarreling bunch.” The coalition will use its time to move the country forward.
Women’s day should be a public holiday
The contract has 77 pages and, according to Schwesig, contains 555 agreements. Among other things, there are plans to introduce an additional public holiday on March 8, International Women’s Day. The SPD and the left want to make agriculture more environmentally friendly, the organically farmed agricultural area is to grow by a third by 2026. A nationwide on-call bus system is intended to regularly connect even small towns to local public transport.
Social program as a brand core
According to Schwesig, a social program should be the brand essence of the new government alliance. Both parties are planning improvements in daycare centers, after-school care centers and schools. Rot-Rot wants to agree with the municipalities on a nationwide minimum personnel key for the daycare centers and enable them to pay the daycare staff in accordance with collective bargaining agreements. The same goes for care. The state wants to lobby the federal government for better pay and a cap on the own contributions to care.
Separate special party conferences this coming weekend
Next weekend, the coalition agreement is to be approved at special party conferences of the SPD and the Left. The election of Schwesig as the new Prime Minister and the appointment of the state government is planned for November 15. Who gets what ministerial post, the SPD and the left will negotiate in the course of this week.
