After a 16-year-old girl in South Tyrol failed to return from a walk, her family reported her missing. The girl died – probably in a fall.

On a family vacation in A 16-year-old girl from Germany probably died in a fall in South Tyrol. The teenager’s body was found on Friday near the northern Italian community of San Candido in the Dolomites at the foot of a mountain path, the mountain rescue service announced.

South Tyrol: 16-year-old did not return from a walk

The family had previously reported her missing. According to this information, the girl left her accommodation early in the morning for a walk and never returned. The mountain rescue service initially did not provide any information about the family’s origins.

It is suspected that the 16-year-old slipped on an icy path while walking and then fell several meters. The public prosecutor ordered an autopsy. This is also intended to clarify whether the girl froze to death. A helicopter and a dog team were also involved in the search.

Finally, after her cell phone was located, the teenager was discovered by a dog in impassable terrain. The site is at an altitude of around 1450 meters.
