It had already been hinted at, now it’s official: The Japanese manufacturer Sony has released a major Android update for its Android-based Walkman models NW-A306 and NW-ZX707 (officially not available in Germany). When the models were published, however, the company did not provide any information about the extent to which the Walkman models would be supported with software updates – all the more the owners of the music players can now look forward to.

Sony Walkman – Android 13 is now available

Even if the focus of a Walkman is more on the music and less on the Android platform itself, given the improvements and security adjustments that Android 13 brings, it is always good to be on the go with a relatively current software version.

Compared to Android 12, Android 13 does not bring any groundbreaking innovations, but it does bring more options for customization within the framework of Material You, new security options, improved performance and stability of the system, and other smaller adjustments.

The software update also includes the October security update. More information about the security-relevant adjustments can be found in October Android Security Report read up.

Since both music players are equipped with Android as the operating system, the update can be accessed, downloaded and installed via the system settings. Sony also provides the file via the official website ready to download and install manually.
