This Thursday, the passage of depression “Nelson” over the south of England will be accompanied by violent gusts of wind. Six departments, Finistère, Côtes-d’Armor, Loire-Atlantique, Vendée, Deux-Sèvres and Charente-Maritime, have been placed on orange alert for violent winds.
The expected values are of the order of 120 to 130 km/h near the coasts and 100 or even occasionally 110 km/h inland, under stormy “squalls” in particular, according to Météo-France. “The strongest gusts are expected around midday. The lull will occur at the end of the afternoon or evening,” warns Météo-France.
In this context, strong waves are also expected. The Var is placed on orange “Waves-submersion” vigilance and the Atlantic coast on yellow vigilance.
