Severely disrupted traffic at Montparnasse station and Gare du Nord this Friday

“It took me 1 hour 45 minutes to come from Gare du Nord to Montparnasse,” says an annoyed Alain, who missed his posted train twenty-five minutes late. Many of them are experiencing a difficult start to the weekend this Friday, due to two separate breakdowns in two Parisian stations: Gare du Nord and Gare Montparnasse.

This Friday evening, traffic in the railway part of the north and west of France is still severely disrupted. Many trains are experiencing delays ranging from twenty minutes to more than four hours.

What happens at Montparnasse station?

On the Montparnasse station side, “a TGV experienced a power supply fault, due to an incident on an electrical installation. It is blocked on a track at the exit of the station, ”indicates the SNCF to our colleagues from France Bleu Paris.

This incident, since resolved, on the Paris-Rennes line would have occurred between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Saint-Arnoult, in the Yvelines, according to our colleagues from Ouest-France.

But while waiting for the train to be repaired, the other trains using this route had to be stopped or slowed down, thus causing several minutes or even hours of delay on certain routes.

On social networks, travelers expressed their weariness and anger. “Four hours late for Nantes and for Amélie who missed her own EVJF. She cries while waiting for the crowded 68 bus”, testifies our journalist Marion Pignot on Twitter.

What’s going on at Gare du Nord?

The day after an incident linked to a power supply fault, the Gare du Nord was once again hit by the same breakdown. “A TGV experienced a power supply fault, due to an incident on an electrical installation. Traffic is becoming more fluid on RER B and D, as well as Transilien lines H and K.
