The semi-final duels of the DFB Cup have been decided: second division club Hamburger SV meets SC Freiburg and RB Leipzig welcomes Union Berlin to a duel between two Bundesliga clubs.
That was the result of the draw on Sunday (March 6th, 2022) in the sports show, broadcast from the German Football Museum in Dortmund. Laura Nolte, Olympic champion in two-berbob, drew the lots in the presence of national coach Hansi Flick.
The semifinals are scheduled for April 19th and 22nd, with the final in Berlin on May 21st.
Freiburg in the semifinals for the first time in nine years
Leipzig was sovereign on Wednesday at second division club Hannover 96 (4:0) prevailed and could reach the final for the third time with a win after 2019 and 2021. For the first time in nine years, Freiburg is also after his Last-minute win in extra time at VfL Bochum (2-1) again in the preliminary round.
