The International Criminal Court (ICC) said on Monday it had issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in the Gaza Strip. The same prosecutor requested arrest warrants against Hamas leaders on the same charges.
“Based on the evidence collected and reviewed by my office, I have reasonable grounds to believe that Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, and Yoav Gallant, the Minister of Defense of Israel, bear responsibility criminal war crimes and crimes against humanity,” the ICC said in a statement. The International Criminal Court sits in The Hague, Netherlands.
The acts were “committed in the territory of the State of Palestine (in the Gaza Strip) from at least October 8, 2023”.
