Second shooting in less than 48 hours leaves two dead

Two fatal shootings in less than 48 hours. Two men were shot dead in the street on Sunday evening in Sevran, in Seine-Saint-Denis. A tragedy which comes less than two days after a settling of scores in the same city which left one dead and four injured. 20 minutes make the point.

What happened ?

According to police sources, the two men were killed around 6 p.m. in the Montceleux-Pont Blanc district, 1.4 km from the scene of Friday’s shooting. “We have good reason to believe that this evening’s events are not completely unrelated to drug trafficking,” said the Paris police prefect, Laurent Nuñes, on his way to the scene. Aged 33 and 35, the victims were known for violence and drug trafficking, said a first source. The suspect(s) fled, added a second police source. The investigation was entrusted to the criminal brigade of the Parisian PJ.

“I was at home when I heard shots, I was very scared. It’s terrible because I saw them grow up, but when you choose this path, unfortunately it’s prison or death,” testified a resident of the neighborhood in her fifties, who requested anonymity. One of the victims is a father, according to local residents.

A similar scenario Friday evening

During the night from Friday to Saturday, a 28-year-old man had already been killed and four others injured, during a shooting in the Cité des Beaudottes, an emblematic district of this city. Three other gunshot wounds also showed up at the hospital later that night. According to the first elements of the investigation, two people arrived in a parking lot in a Peugeot 5008. The passenger got out of the vehicle, fired several times before fleeing. 25 cartridge cases of 7.62, a caliber used in particular for Kalashnikov type weapons, were found.

“XXL net space” operation

Sevran was the subject of an anti-drug operation “XXL net square” on March 25 with the aim of stopping trafficking. In this city, the Rougemont city deal point had been “eradicated”, the police headquarters said on Saturday. According to this source, “it is obvious that these operations destabilize traffic and give rise to turf wars to reappropriate the dismantled points”. Two mobile force units were sent to the scene.
