Sauerlach – cars crash into bikes on the A 8 – district of Munich

On Wednesday evening around 7 p.m. on the A8 in the direction of Munich, a bicycle came loose from the rear carrier of the car of a 61-year-old from Munich. It fell on the road and some following vehicles could no longer avoid it, according to the Holzkirchen motorway police. The majority of them managed to park their cars on the breakdown lane immediately after the accident site at the Hofolding junction. Nobody got hurt. The police are assuming damage to the bike in the amount of 4,000 euros, plus 3,000 euros to the vehicles involved. How the bike could fall from the rear carrier is still being clarified, according to the police. In addition to two police patrols, the Hofolding fire brigade was deployed with three vehicles and 18 emergency services, as well as the Holzkirchen motorway maintenance department. The hard shoulder and the right-hand lane had to be closed for about an hour while the accident was being recorded and the road cleaned. According to the police, the traffic obstruction was limited.
