Because Russian machines can be confiscated abroad, according to the aviation authority in the country, they should remain on the ground. Reason are the sanctions of Europe.

Russia’s state aviation authority has called on Russian airlines with aircraft leased in western countries to suspend their international flights from midnight on Sunday.

Flights from abroad to Russia with leased machines should be discontinued from March 8, the authority said on Saturday. Reason are the sanctions against Russian aviation and the risk of confiscation of aircraft leased by Russian companies abroad. Domestic flights are not affected.

Most European airspaces are now closed to Russian airlines because of the Russian attack on Ukraine.

The Russian airline Aeroflot will stop all international flights from March 8th. The state agency Tass reported that connections to the Belarusian capital Minsk were an exception.
