Samire Lymani, a 41-year-old man, was sentenced Tuesday in Montpellier to thirty years of criminal imprisonment for having killed his partner Aurélie Vaquier, found buried in April 2021 under a concrete slab at the couple’s home in Hérault.
After four hours of deliberation, the jury recognized this ex-soldier and truck driver, who fiercely denied the facts, “guilty” of the murder of Aurélie Vaquier, and sentenced him in accordance with the attorney general’s indictment. When the verdict was announced, Samire Lymani shouted from the dock “I am innocent!” Justice ! Justice ! », before being evacuated.
On the benches of the civil parties, those close to Aurélie Vaquier applauded the decision. The defense lawyer, Mathieu Montfort, immediately announced that he would appeal this decision. Samire Lymani, who reported the disappearance of his partner on February 23, almost a month after her disappearance, has always denied his involvement in the murder of his partner, aged 38, found dead on April 7, 2021 in Bédarieux. His body was discovered under a concrete slab, hidden under a wooden podium at the couple’s home. According to the accused, the events occurred when he was away from his family for a few days.
During the hearing, Attorney General Damien Kincher mentioned this “absurd hypothesis” according to which a stranger would have killed the young woman in her home before pouring a concrete slab: “Lies, lies, lies… this stranger , it’s you, Samire Lymani,” said the attorney general.
“Are there really only two hypotheses? That of an unknown person and that of Samire Lymani? Could there not be someone who knew Aurélie, who knew the place? », replied Mathieu Montfort during his pleading.
