The left-wing politician Sahra Wagenknecht will present the founding of the association “BSW – For Reason and Justice” next Monday. This was confirmed by the left-wing politician’s office. The abbreviation therefore stands for “Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht”.
The founding of the association is seen as a concrete step towards founding a separate Wagenknecht party, which could combine left-wing social policy with strict asylum policy and a move away from overly harsh climate protection.

Wissler accuses Wagenknecht of an “ego trip”.
Left leader Janine Wissler was critical of Wagenknecht’s plans on Wednesday evening. In the Tagesthemen she said that “in view of the devastating politics of the traffic lights,” a left-wing member of the Bundestag must oppose the federal government and present alternatives. Instead, Wagenknecht is on an “ego trip.”
The party leadership of the Saxon Left has described Wagenknecht’s plans as reckless and irresponsible towards the more than 200 employees in the Bundestag faction and their families. The two chairmen of the Left in Saxony, Susanne Schaper and Steffen Hartmann, said on Thursday that anyone who weakens the party “for selfish motives will soon realize that these motives are not the basis for the lasting success of a party.”
Left could lose faction status
The Left Party is threatened with losing its parliamentary group status in the Bundestag as a result of Wagenknecht’s plans. Wissler appealed to MPs who could join a new party to also give up their Bundestag mandates. The Left Party faction currently has 38 members. The limit for faction status is 37.
Possible competition for AfD
