Sahra Wagenknecht tested positive for the corona virus. The left-wing politician, who claims not to have been vaccinated against Covid-19, recently spoke out against compulsory vaccination.

The left-wing politician Sahra Wagenknecht tested positive for the corona virus. On Wednesday morning, the former group leader received a positive PCR test result and then went into quarantine at home. This was reported by the “Bild” newspaper. To the star the report was confirmed by their Bundestag office. Wagenknecht is doing well and is currently not showing any symptoms.

According to Sahra Wagenknecht, she was not vaccinated

The member of the Bundestag, who claims not to have been vaccinated against the corona virus, recently criticized the stigmatization of the unvaccinated and spoke out against a general obligation to vaccinate. The left-wing MP considers the tightened security measures in the Bundestag to be “epidemiologically nonsensical” and unconstitutional. Wagenknecht also expressed reservations about the mRNA vaccines, but advocates “that older people and risk groups can be vaccinated”.

On Wednesday, the Bundestag debated in detail for the first time about the introduction of a general obligation to vaccinate in Germany (You can read an overview before the debate here). Their supporters see this as a necessary measure to significantly increase the vaccination rate in the fight against the corona virus and thus get the pandemic under control. Opponents doubt the need for such a requirement, pointing out that until recently, leaders from all parties have said in unison that there will be no vaccination requirement. The deliberations began around 3 p.m. and were scheduled to last three hours. It was a so-called orientation debate.
