Queen cancels appointment again – Prince Charles represents her
The traditional service on Maundy Thursday (April 14) will be celebrated this year without the British monarch – this time in St George’s Chapel in Windsor. Prince Charles steps in.
Queen Elizabeth II has again canceled a public appearance – and wants to be represented by her son Prince Charles.
Buckingham Palace announced on Friday that, unlike usual, the monarch would not attend the traditional service on Maundy Thursday (April 14). This will take place at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, not far from where the Queen is staying.
The 95-year-old had repeatedly canceled appointments for health reasons and moved away from Windsor Castle less and less. At an appointment, her comment caused a stir that she could no longer move.
However, she took part in the memorial service for her husband Prince Philip, who died last year, in Westminster Abbey last week – her first public appearance in London in months. It is eagerly awaited to what extent she will participate in the celebrations of her 70th throne anniversary in early June.
