Rock and roll musician Ted Herold is dead – culture

The German rock’n’roll musician Ted Herold died on Saturday evening in an apartment fire in Dortmund. This was confirmed by a spokesman for the Dortmund public prosecutor of the dpa. Previously, the imageNewspaper reports.

Herold, born Harald Walter Schubring in Berlin in 1942, began playing rock music and performing as a singer while still at school. His first record came out in 1959, and one year later he was already known as “the German Elvis Presley” alongside Peter Kraus. His best known songs include “Ich bin ein Mann”, “Hula-Rock” and “Moonlight”. Herold also appeared in film and television.

In the sixties things got quiet about the musician, Udo Lindenberg rediscovered Herold almost ten years later. In 1977 he won it for his record “Panic Nights”. Herold accompanied Lindenberg on his tour of Germany. A new breakthrough for Ted Herold, new songs and contracts followed. His old titles were all released on CD. The singer gave concerts again and was a guest at gala events and TV programs. In 2016 he said goodbye to the stage.

Herold lived in Dortmund with his second wife. He was 79 years old.
