The robot ethicist Kate Darling on relationships between humans and robots, rights for robots and the question of when machines will take over the world.

Kate Darling is a robot ethicist and fanatic. The researcher from the Media Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology grew up in Switzerland, but she can only talk about her work in English. She can’t think of words in German. She has a number of robots at home, but no pets. Three of them are Pleos, cute baby dinosaur robots who squirm happily when they are petted.
