Child-friendly cafes in Munich: Here parents can enjoy their coffee in a relaxed manner – Munich

Peppermint

Everyone is welcome at Café Pfefferminza in Giesing, but especially families with small children. White clouds dangle from the ceiling and you sit down on white-painted wooden chairs. In the colorful play area there is a children’s kitchen and a small table for crafts, a games shelf and books.

There is also a menu for younger guests with sugar-free banana bread or buttered pretzels. Adults can look forward to a large selection of crepes, both savory and sweet, as well as homemade cakes. There is also a classic breakfast menu here with bread baskets, croissants and yoghurt with fruit.

Café Cotidiano

The Cotidiano at Gärtnerplatz is known for its huge breakfast menu: whether scrambled egg variations, sweet and savory bowls, Belgian waffles with berries, American pancakes or filled bagels – anyone who can make a decision will find what they are looking for. The audience is diverse; students and older couples sit on the black benches at long wooden tables. The decor is modern, with industrial-style planters and lamps hanging from the ceiling.

Families with children are also not uncommon guests here; there is a changing room, enough space for a stroller and of course children’s chairs. A highlight is the beautiful view of Gärtnerplatz. A spot outside on the terrace is particularly recommended in summer.

Preysinggarten

The Preysinggarten in Haidhausen has been around since 1874. As a meeting place for families and friends, it offers a cozy terrace with an adjacent playground, lots of greenery and a few sunny spots in a quiet location. It’s also wonderful to live inside, where paneled wooden walls and high arched windows decorate the room.

If you like something hearty for breakfast, you will find a varied selection here, including a farmer’s omelet with potatoes, bacon, onions and fresh herbs, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and tomatoes, cheese variations and white sausages. The hand-painted children’s menu includes, for example, spaetzle with or without cream sauce, chicken breast with fries, a gratinated vegetable casserole or baby calamari.

The Catwalk is just a few minutes away from the English Garden. There is enough space for a stroller on the beautiful terrace with parasols. Inside, the little ones can let off steam in the play cabinet, which is stocked with painting materials, puzzles and card games. There are also enough children’s chairs provided.

The café exudes retro chic, with cozy seating areas, wooden chairs and light stone tiles. You will be well catered for in the morning and evening. The breakfast selection ranges from muesli with fresh fruit, scrambled eggs or omelets, ham or cheese plates to smoked salmon and roast beef. There are also various pasta dishes, salads and a club sandwich on the menu.

La Sophia

La Sophia in der Au is known to many as a good Italian restaurant. But on weekends and public holidays, guests can also have a hearty breakfast here, for example with Eggs Benedict, a Strammen Max with ham, bacon and fried eggs or a truffle scrambled egg on whole grain bread. The golden bar in the middle of the restaurant is an eye-catcher, as are the floor-to-ceiling windows and the elegant wooden furniture.

La Sophia is a particularly good choice for parents: the play area is positioned away from most tables, so that the children can play in peace and the parents can have breakfast in peace. You can still keep an eye on the offspring. Only strollers have to stay outside the door, as a sign indicates.

Café Steinchen

What was originally a concrete parking lot is now a cozy green oasis. In Café Steinchen there is an orange trailer on a gravel floor, with lanterns, flower pots, plants and colorfully thrown together seating in between. The children can play on the wooden train or with the sandpit toys.

The menu is mostly vegetarian. During the week there are cakes, snack boards and various daily specials such as curry or spaghetti Bolognese. On the weekend, you can start the day with a big breakfast with tomato and mozzarella salad, cheese cubes and herb dip, or with a classic white sausage breakfast. The trip to Laim is also worth it.

Gymnastics Café

The culinary offerings in the gymnastics café in Schwabing are rather straightforward. In addition to hot drinks and soft drinks, sugar-free wholemeal spelled waffles and squeezes are available. The real highlight here is the indoor playground, which offers children plenty of space to let off steam.

There is a trampoline, a swing, wall bars, slides and foam building blocks, boxes to jump down and a lovingly designed railway track – a play paradise for the little ones, who can conquer the place for themselves undisturbed. The gymnastics café is suitable for children up to and including the age of three, but older siblings are also welcome. Places must be booked in advance online via the homepage. A similar concept with an indoor playground and breakfast is also offered Mama’s children’s café in Sollnwhere you also have to register in advance.
