Return to Monkey Island: Walkthrough & Walkthrough: solved all puzzles and quiz cards

Our Return to Monkey Island walkthrough shows you how to solve all the puzzles, find all the important items, and we also give you a guide to where to find and solve the quiz cards that you can collect for the quiz book. Arrrrr, deck scrubba! Welcome back to the epic adventures of Guybrush Threepwood, the pirate who took on the evil Ghost Captain LeChuck on several occasions. This time, our hero is actually looking for the legendary secret of Monkey Island that is hinted at in the title.

Return to Monkey Island starts right after the second part of the series and clarifies, among other things, the somewhat confusing ending of the classic. In terms of play, however, it is less based on the DOS oldies from the nineties. The controls have been simplified so that you no longer have to click on word commands or symbols while the cursor is context-sensitive. It always shows you what actions you can currently perform or what type of object you are pointing to. Still, it’s wise to stick to some typical rules of the point-and-click adventure genre.

General tips:

  1. Talk to all the people you meet

Although there are some characters that say little useful, you should question everything and everyone. This is the only way to learn every trick to the plot and learn how to crack puzzles or find certain objects without additional help.

  1. Tell everyone you want to solve the mystery of Monkey Island

It may be repetitive, but it’s about a running gag that is rewarded with an achievement or a trophy.

  1. Scan every scene properly.

Since your cursor automatically identifies any object that might be important, it’s up to you to find those objects. So hover your cursor over the scenery to make sure you don’t miss anything. Now you can find all the quiz cards without any further help and get all the important items you need for the puzzles and riddles of the game without having to run back and forth several times.

  1. Save the quiz questions for last

If you want to answer all of the quiz cards without help, then wait until you’re near the end of Chapter 4, because only then can you use research to answer anything you don’t know off the top of your head.

Prelude (tutorial)

Before Guybrush’s new adventure really gets going, you can use a photo album to roughly reconstruct his previous adventures. The entry into the playable part picks up exactly where Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge left off, namely with the children at the Big Whoop amusement park running to their (supposed) parents. Shortly thereafter, the adults run ahead into another area, while Chuckie gets a craving for a snack. The two kids fool around a bit before you can control them.

The prelude serves as a gentle introduction to the game, in which you will become familiar with the controls and get to know the interaction options of the game. To walk anywhere, just click or use the controller’s analog stick to move to the location you want. Run with the two in the Scurvydog diner. This is the only open door, just to the left of the house with the balcony. So click on the open door to enter the diner.

Inside the takeaway, you click on the takeaway owner, whose glasses appear to be thick enough for the kids to make fun of. This will give you several conversation options at the bottom of the screen. You can theoretically try your way through all the options. But since Chuckie wants a Scurvydog, you should “Can we get a Scurvydog” conversation option Select.

The seller asks for a piece of gold. You don’t have that, so the only answer left to you is “then not”. Chucky suggests checking the outhouse across the street for money. So leave the snack bar through the door and walk left on the square to the small house with a moon symbol carved into the door. If you click on the door, you will find that it is locked.

Return to the diner one more time and asks the owner for the key to the toilet. Then you can take the key from the hook on the left wall. In order to pick up an item, you have to point the cursor at the item and press the secondary click button – like the right mouse button on the PC. Your control options are presented to you whenever you place the cursor over an item that you can interact with.

Runs back to the loo and open your inventory bag (just click on the small bag that appears in the bottom left corner of the screen). In the bag is the toilet key that you just took with you. Click on him and lead him to the door. If you click it again use the key on the door. She is open now. Enter the toilet.

It’s gross inside the toilet. You can look around here, but it’s not absolutely necessary. Just pick up the small piece of metal lying on the floor.

This “false fifty” resembles a coin. The kids suspect that the shopkeeper has such poor eyesight that he mistakes the fake coin for real. So go back to the diner and talk to him. asks for curvydogs, then get the fake coin from your inventory bag and give it to the seller. You will then receive the sausages on a skewer. Take her outside.

Run right through the archway planted with roses into the next area. There is a girl waiting there named dee on you. She fills you up To do list out, which you can check out right away.

Items on your to-do list give you under the fool around category and explore the following activities:

– Find our parents

All these activities are done quickly and show you certain mechanics that are needed in the following game. The anchor you see right next to you. Stand next to it and click on it to take a close look at the anchor and talk about it. Dee is an anchor expert and then she babbles at you. The game will show you a button that you can use to cancel dialogue (it’s the period key on PC). Use them to stop Dee’s lecture.

That Race against Chuckie takes place a little further to the right on the field marked with lines. Just stand at the starting line. When the start has been cleared, all you have to do is quickly click behind the finish line – preferably double-clicking or holding down the right trigger, because that way you’ll run faster than usual and definitely get there before Chuckie.

Walk a bit along the path. There you will find it Pair, that you had chosen as the “false parents”. At your request, they will not give you any of the bread lying next to them. At least not voluntarily.

In order to get the bread and feed the ducks with it, you have to distract the couple. Click on the brown basket. While the two deal with Chuckie, you can quickly run to the white bread and pick it up. Now run to the other side of the pond and feeds the duckby taking the bread from the inventory and pushing it onto the duck.

There is something right in front of the jetty of the pond gravy on the floor. pick it up Now go into your inventory bag and pushes the sauce onto the Scurvydog. This is how you combine these two items together. Secondary click on the gravy covered Scurvydog. After a bite, it becomes clear that it’s not about ketchup.

Now stand on them Stage with the dummy ship. There you can practice sword fighting. The four leaf shamrockwhich defines your to-do list, can be found on the small Meadow to the right of the pond. There is a sign in front of it saying not to pick shamrocks. read it Of course you don’t care about the message. The four-leaf specimen is easy to find and just needs to be picked up. The only purpose of this little lesson is to prove to you that signs can be read and objects that you later have to look for can also be very small. That’s why you should trust your cursor, which identifies all items for you.

That’s the one left Wish at the wishing well. The fountain is in front of a fence. There is a coin right in front of the fountain that you just have to pick up. Throw them in the well and make a wish. It comes true immediately, if only for a short time. You have almost fulfilled all the items on the to-do list. Open the fence door and run down the path to complete the final task, which is meeting your real parents. Your father is Guybrush Threepwood, the hero of the story.

After a brief conversation, Guybrush begins to wallow in the past. He promises you a story about the true secret of Monkey Island.
