Rescuers raced to fake emergencies five times: climate activists misused the emergency call app Regional

Eat – Now the climate activists are already using the emergency call for their messages! This is what happened in Essen on Tuesday evening.

Fire brigade and police forces were called to several allegedly urgent operations in the city via the “nora” emergency call app. All false alarms!

Afterwards, a group of self-proclaimed environmental activists – probably from southern Germany – confessed to the crimes.

It started at 8 p.m. The rescuers were alerted to Oberhauser Strasse in the Frintrop district of Essen. An alleged gas leak in a residential building and a person covered in blood had previously been reported via “nora”.

However, the officials did not find anyone injured at the scene, nor was there any leaking gas.

Later, the app user contacted the control centers with the following message via the chat function:

“You thought it was an emergency, but the real emergency – the impending climate catastrophe – which will kill millions of people is consistently ignored by our politicians. We will continue this form of protest until our federal government enacts effective legislation to prevent climate catastrophe.”

A total of five fake emergency calls were made in the city area by midnight, to which several emergency services were dispatched. So to an alleged armed burglary and another alleged gas leak.

This is what the “Nora” app looks like on a mobile phone

The police: “In all cases, a large number of rescue workers were sent to the respective locations. These were not available for possible other deployments at the time.”

NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul (70, CDU) is stunned by the incident: “It can hardly be surpassed in terms of indecency and shows where it leads when people believe their concerns are above everything and everyone.”

One thing is clear: Anyone who misuses the emergency call app is liable to prosecution. The police state protection has started the investigation. The “nora” warning app is actually intended for deaf people who can use the Internet to send a written emergency call to the police control center. (biwe, wit, fsch)
