The first courses had just started at Rennes-2 University when the alert was given. Shortly after 8:30 a.m., an agent from the University of Human Sciences discovered a suspicious package abandoned in a trash can in building S of the Villejean campus. Alerted, the management of the establishment immediately called the police and evacuated the building. A security perimeter was established by the police and classes were interrupted until 1:45 p.m. in the evacuated buildings. The deminers were called. “There were suspicious items, including a gas canister. The deminers found that there was no connection, ”says a police source. The device was finally able to be lifted a little before 10:45 a.m. The police specify that “the risk is averted”.
The Ereve building, which notably houses a creperie and an associative bar, was also evacuated. The building had been welcoming refugees since Tuesday after the evacuation of a gymnasium in the city of Rennes. Access to all the buildings is again possible, specifies the management of the establishment. Classes should not resume before 1:45 p.m., however.
