A storm is raging over Munich, it is stormy and raining heavily. The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued an official storm warning for the city of severe thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail. The weather service reports that individual thunderstorms are coming from the southwest, with gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour and hailstones measuring two centimeters in size.
The DWD warns that there is a danger to life and limb from lightning strikes, falling branches or flying objects. Streets, underpasses and basements could quickly be flooded. The weather service recommends not spending time outdoors and avoiding bodies of water. The fire department reported no special incidents in the late afternoon, shortly after 5 p.m.
