Renewed bomb threats at several schools in Bavaria – Bavaria

Bomb threats were again received at several schools in Bavaria on Tuesday. Police headquarters reported threats at schools in Bayreuth and Hollfeld in Upper Franconia, at a school in Straubing and in Friedberg, Swabia.

The police evacuated the schools as a precaution or turned away students and teachers before entering the building. The schools were then searched to rule out any danger. The police also used so-called explosives dogs.

At the Alexander von Humboldt School in Bayreuth and the comprehensive school in Hollfeld, threats were received by email on Tuesday night and were discovered in the morning, a police spokesman said. Little by little, reports of similar cases were received at other schools across the country, it was said.

The police in Upper Franconia have been investigating the background since Friday last week after the comprehensive school in Hollfeld received a threat. “There is a certain similarity,” said the police spokesman. It is still unclear whether the emails come from the same sender. We are also talking to the other departments concerned. They continue to be responsible for the investigation, said a spokesman for the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office on Tuesday. “They exchange ideas closely.”

According to the police, this is also the second threat against a school in a row in Straubing. On Monday afternoon, another school was ultimately searched after a “similar threat” without any indication of danger.

Four schools in Regensburg, Augsburg and Cham in Upper Palatinate were also searched on Monday because of bomb threats. Nothing suspicious was discovered either. The investigation into the background to the threats is still ongoing, said a spokeswoman for the Swabia North Presidium on Tuesday. There were also major police operations at schools in Erfurt, Solingen, Mannheim and Karlsruhe as well as at ZDF in Mainz on Monday following threats.
