“Rehragout-Rendezvous” is the eleventh part of the regional crime series about Commissioner Eberhofer. Author Rita Falk doesn’t particularly like the film, but everyone else does.

After Rita Falk’s sharp criticism of the film adaptation of her new book “Rehragout-Rendezvous”, the crime author and Constantin Film emphasize their actually good cooperation.

“I really like all the predecessors of the Eberhofer films, I really appreciate the collaboration with Constantin Film and think the entire cast is perfect,” emphasized Falk on Friday after a very critical interview with her in “Spiegel” made headlines the day before. “What I don’t like is the current part. That’s all. Everything else is just nonsense.”

Falk had previously distanced himself from the film adaptation in clear words. “I find the script incredibly flat, trashy, even ordinary in places,” she told the “Spiegel” about the theatrical release of the film of the same name. “I’m really sad and I’ve shed a lot of tears over the last few days.”

Constantine appreciates the author very much

“Rita Falk is an extraordinary author with a keen sense for unusual stories, bizarre criminal cases and lovingly drawn characters. We appreciate her and her work very much,” said Constantin boss Martin Moszkowicz of the German Press Agency in Munich. He called the current reporting “regrettable because we have been working together respectfully and trustingly for over ten years”.

As a production company, Constantin must “respect and coordinate the interests of all artists involved in a film adaptation,” he emphasized. “The whole team involved in the film adaptations always works with a lot of passion and sensitivity for the underlying book templates on the films, so of course also on “Rehragout-Rendezvous”.

Falk had said in the “Spiegel” among other things: “I want the people out there to know that it’s not right if the credits for this film say ‘Based on the novel by Rita Falk’. It’s just not true.” She wanted to thank Constantin for a great time. “But as a writer, I have to distance myself from this film.” That’s why she wasn’t present at the film premiere in Munich.

In the “Spiegel” interview, Falk left it open what a collaboration with Constantin could look like in the future. There is still no contract for her latest book “Plugin fish fiasco”, but Constantin has an option for two older, unfilmed books. “At the moment I can only say: I am very skeptical about further film adaptations.”
