Actor Ray Stevenson passed away in Italy this week at the age of 58. Marvel fans knew him as the Punisher, Star Wars fans will soon be able to see him in the Asohka series. He was also known for series such as “Vikings”, “Rome”, “Dexter” and “Black Sails”.

British actor Ray Stevenson died in Italy last Sunday at the age of 58, his publicist confirmed to Variety. The cause of death is not known at this time. He was filming on the island of Ischia, which belongs to Naples.

Stevenson was born in Northern Ireland and moved to England at a young age where he studied drama at the Bristol Old Vic Theater School. He got his first film and television roles in the 90s before his first Hollywood leading role followed in the 2004 film “King Arthur”. He went on to play the Marvel character Frank Castle in Punisher: War Zone and also appeared in several of the comics empire’s Thor movies.
