Rape, torture, beatings… The man found dead suffered an outburst of violence

Two men and a woman. Since their arrest, these three individuals have continued to blame each other for the death of a 47-year-old man, whose lifeless body was found in an apartment on rue Papu, in Rennes. Discovered by a nurse, the victim would have suffered a veritable outbreak of violence, according to the first investigations carried out by departmental security investigators. According to the autopsy report, the victim suffered vile abuse perpetrated by the three suspects, who must be presented to a judge.

Beaten, slashed with knives and forks, the 47-year-old man was also the victim of anal penetration with a broken broom handle. Barbaric acts which generated “several very serious injuries”, according to the deputy public prosecutor of Rennes. And in particular “a very deep wound which proved fatal by causing a strong effusion of blood” inside the victim’s body.

Before that, he had already been hit with the broomstick and the victim of numerous blows which caused “a fatal depression in the chest”, according to deputy prosecutor Sébastien Farges. “Wounds made by a sharp object which could be a fork and wounds suggestive of stab wounds” were also revealed at the autopsy.

The seriously injured tenant will survive

The tenant of the apartment, found seriously injured by the nurse who was supposed to treat him, is still hospitalized but “his life is no longer in danger”, according to the magistrate.

According to investigators, the two victims and the three suspects spent the evening of January 1st together. Known for being a meeting place for neighborhood misfits, the 5th floor apartment on rue Papu was the scene of a drinking party. After arguments and provocations, “a fight broke out between the main suspect, aged 34, and the man found deceased”, specifies the Rennes prosecutor’s office.

A request for incarceration made

The two main suspects, already “well known to the justice system” in particular for violence, must be presented to a judge in the evening, just like the 52-year-old woman who accompanied them. A judicial investigation was opened on charges of murder preceded by a crime (rape with acts of torture or barbarity) and aggravated violence.

The Rennes public prosecutor’s office requested their placement in pre-trial detention. The three accused must now be presented to an investigating judge.
