Queer pub “Fesch” in Munich: Cozy and queer – Munich

Bavarian inns are places where culture and customs are held in high esteem. But far too often there are places where women, people with a visible migration history or queer people do not always feel safe. For example, because some Bierdimpfl thinks that just because he has always had a seat at the regulars’ table, his opinion is of interest. So it’s a good thing that there is now an address in Munich for all those who would like to drink a hearty beer, but can easily do without the die-hards.

Das Fesch, as the operators write – by the way, with clubs like the legendary and recently closed Harry Klein, no strangers to Munich nightlife – even on their website, is a “queer, Bavarian inn with a standing tavern” and is located, who will it be wonder, in the middle of the Glockenbachviertel. To be more precise: where the Moro once was, on the corner of Müllerstrasse and Fraunhoferstrasse.

Decor is a mix of modern and traditional, with ancient wooden statues and carved paneling meeting peacock wallpaper and yellow orchids without fear of contact. The transitions from old to new are as fluid as those between the restaurant area with chairs and the bar in the rear part of the restaurant.

The Goaßnhalbe is on the menu as a long drink

Augustiner beer is served – which is easy to see from the bright blue lettering that is emblazoned on two sides above the entrance. And as befits a real tavern, in addition to Hellem (4.30 euros in the tavern, 3.90 euros in the bar), Edelstoff, Pils and dark beer are on tap, and there are different types of wheat beer from the bottle on the menu and also a very special treat: among the long drinks you can even find a Goaßnhalbe (9.50 euros). The mixture of cola, dark beer and cherry liqueur may be new to some and unfamiliar at first, but hey, why not try something new more often?

The stand-up bar is in the back part of the economy.

Whether you prefer a draft beer, a long drink or a glass of wine, everyone is welcome at the Fesch. In principle, it doesn’t matter whether you’re queer or non-queer. The main thing: live and let live. And that really is the epitome of Bavarian hospitality. It doesn’t matter that the wooden tables will probably need a few more years until they are as greasy as befits a greasy inn.
