At the beginning of June, the British want to celebrate the platinum anniversary of the Queen. But not only Elizabeth II will be the focus – three of her great-grandchildren will also play prominent roles.

June 2 falls on a Thursday this year. Actually a normal working day, but not in the United Kingdom: Because Queen Elizabeth II was officially crowned on exactly this date 70 years earlier, all compatriots get the day off.

And because the occasion is so unusual, there’s June 3rd as a holiday on top of that: A total of four days, from June 2nd to 5th, 2022, the British are supposed to celebrate the platinum anniversary of the Queen.

But even if the 96-year-old is undoubtedly in the foreground, the celebration will not only be a look back at a unique reign, but also a look into the future of the monarchy. As the “Telegraph” reports, the youngest members of the royal family should also be involved. The children of Prince William and Duchess Kate are said to play a “visible role”: Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 4.

The Queen expects a tight program

The three are scheduled to attend the traditional Trooping the Color parade, which is being brought forward to June 2 this year. 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians are to celebrate the Queen on Horse Guard’s Parade. When the Royal Air Force flies over Buckingham Palace afterwards, the children should also be there and watch the air show with the royal family.

For Prince William it would also be a journey into his own past: The Queen’s grandson was four years old when he first attended the “Trooping the Color” parade in 1988 – at that time he was with his mother Diana and his great-grandmother Queen Mum a carriage.

It is still unclear whether the jubilee, Queen Elizabeth II, will be able to take part in the festivities in full. In any case, the program is tight: the troop parade is followed on Friday by a festive service for the jubilee. The traditional derby horse race is scheduled for Saturday, and in the evening there is a gigantic party at Buckingham Palace – which is even supposed to be broadcast live on TV. Finally, an anniversary banquet and artist gala in honor of the Queen is scheduled for Sunday.

An exhausting schedule for the 96-year-old monarch. It might not be a bad idea to give her a break in the meantime and provide the public with cute pictures of her three great-grandchildren.
