The warning strikes in the public sector are entering the next round: Today the people of Hamburg have to expect restrictions in many areas. Ver.di is also calling for work stoppages in Schleswig-Holstein.
The ver.di union has called for work stoppages today. What she is planning is almost like a general strike in the public sector. Employees of all state authorities and state companies are called upon to stop work. For example, it could be difficult to register a car with the State Transport Authority. The district customer centers are also affected. Just like the central housing benefit office. But the job center and the fire department are also affected.
Rally planned in front of the tax authority
A rally was planned at the union hall in the morning, ver.di said. The strikers then want to move to the tax authority, where the final rally is to take place.
School lessons are probably largely normal
For example, the municipal Elbkinder daycare centers are not affected by the warning strike. And because civil servants do not have the right to strike and many teachers are employed, school lessons should also take place largely normally. However, there could be problems with full-day care. In Schleswig-Holstein, warning strikes are planned at universities and in the road construction administration.
Ver.di wants to increase pressure in the tariff dispute
The union wants to increase the pressure on employers with the warning strike in the collective bargaining dispute. She is disappointed with the course of collective bargaining for federal state employees so far. Ver.di demands 10.5 percent more money, but at least 500 euros more per month. Young talent should receive 200 euros more. For Berlin, Hamburg and Bremen, the unions are demanding a monthly city-state allowance of 300 euros. The Collective Bargaining Association of German States (TdL), chaired by Hamburg’s Finance Senator Andreas Dressel (SPD), considers the demands to be far too high. The third round of negotiations is scheduled for December 7th.
“November will be a strike November”
With a view to the massive expansion of warning strikes, Nicole Drücker, Hamburg member of the Federal Tariff Commission, said: “November will be a strike November, which means we have to take everything to the streets.”
Sports field attendants go on strike at the weekend
On Saturday, the city’s sports field attendants went on a warning strike, which was to continue on Sunday. This was associated with restrictions and cancellations in gaming operations. The Hamburg Football Association announced that it would examine possible and necessary rescheduled games on Monday and, if necessary, automatically reschedule them.
