The Song

Thrill lovers, The Song could well be one of the great surprises of October. This adventure game clearly flirting with survival horror puts you in the shoes of Jess, a poor unfortunate who finds herself stranded on a mysterious island. The problem is that it is invaded by a very unhealthy cult and above all, demons everywhere: she will thus have to solve puzzles to sink into the heart of the environment and repel the evil forces that are rampant, sometimes very creepy (as we like them, after all). We therefore find exploration, craft, horror and horrific action, all driven by Brass Token, a Canadian studio for which this is the first game. Come on, we believe it.

WRC Generations

Unsurprisingly, this is a rally game that likes to transcribe the famous WRC championship, absolutely legendary in the world of motor sports. Nevertheless, 2022 is a very special year for the competition since the cars must now be hybrid, which also influences the gameplay of the game with vehicles that will address new mechanics, such as the management of a battery depending on the route. There is also very generous content: 750km of specials, 22 countries, 49 teams from the 2022 season, 37 cars, 165 timed specials… The physics have also been reviewed, there is a LEAGUES mode for multiplayer and you can customize your cars with a livery system, which can be shared online. If you like muddy dirt, it’s happening here.

Sonic Frontiers

Expected like the messiah by fans eager for novelty, Sonic Frontiers is clearly one of the headlines of the end of the year. For once, Sega promises that this is a revolution for the saga: we are therefore entitled to a completely revised modern technique, a gigantic open-world, skills to unlock and upgrade (a first for the blue hedgehog), gigantic bosses, exploration… In short, a modern experience while respecting the gameplay of Sonic, which always wants to be at full speed. Don’t lie to us: there are a lot of challenges for this Japanese achievement, the release of which is directly linked to that of a certain God of War on PlayStation. We hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Each year, we are entitled to several football games: FIFA of course, eFootball in the field of free-to-play and then also… Football Manager. A true reference in its field, this ultra-advanced management game puts you at the head of a team and even an entire club: manage players, manage transactions and struggle to win the cup. The 2023 edition will thus be available on consoles in a version that will adapt its gameplay and visibility: the interface is thus improved, accessibility simplified while a plethora of mechanics deepen the experience for maximum authenticity. In short, there is plenty to do and be careful: it’s more addictive than it seems.

God of War: Ragnarok

If there’s one game to remember that you’re going to hear about everywhere, it’s this one. After four years of absence, Kratos and his son Atreus return in an adventure that has every chance of being grandiose: this time, the Nordic Gods are (all) angry and our God of War will take up arms again to kick their ass. Well, there is a strong risk of Ragnarok – that is to say of the destruction of the world, quite simply – but who cares since the journey of Santa Monica promises to be powerful, colorful and with generous content. A mega-hit that should come to compete directly Elden Ring for the title of Best Game of the Year at the Game Awards 2022, just that.

Ogre Tactics: Reborn

Ogre Tacticsit’s not just anything in the video game landscape: it’s one of the most famous Tactical-RPG franchises, actually from the saga Ogre Battle started in 1993. Suffice to say that its return in 2022 is surprising, although it is a redesign of the game released in 2010 : here, the title relies on graphic improvements, sound improvements and a new vision of its game design. What’s more, the game (finally!) offers a French translation! Enough to dive into this rich and complex experience, set in a particularly dense medieval-fantasy world with multiple branches. So yes, it’s a little old-school, but it’s still delicious when you like the genre.

The Dark Pictures: The Devil In Me

Supermassive Games is a studio in decidedly very good shape: already the origin of The Quarry this year, he will lay a new narrative horror game from The Dark Pictures saga, of which each anthology is released each year. So after Man of Medan, Little Hope and Little Hopeplace to The Devil In Me, the story of a group of young (and not only) guests in a strange and gigantic mansion. Very quickly, they realize that they are trapped by their guest, who has faked and tampered with many plays: a very trashy SAW experience in which your choices will influence the script, as tradition dictates. By the way, don’t expect a “big” game since all The Dark Pictures are to be considered as small games (about 5 or 6 hours of life), which will also suit some players.

Evil West

There’s more than one reason to wait impatiently Evil West. This ultra-naughty TPS is developed by Flying Wild Hog, the studio behind the shadow warrior and Trek to Yomiand proposes to embody a sort of ultra-badass cowboy in an abominable Far West, eaten away by foul creatures. Fortunately, our hero has very wild abilities and an impressive array of weapons: we can then chain combos and executions in a rather alluring style. The icing on the cake: it is possible to do the whole adventure alone or in cooperation, just to share the task for even more fun. With a real promise of gameplay and atmosphere, Evil West can definitely be a good surprise at the end of the year.

Gungrave GORE

Ah, Gungrave. A franchise Coming from an anime that is not new, several very naughty video games had already seen the light of day in the 2000s: its big comeback on home consoles (we deliberately exclude the VR game released recently) was rather unexpected but benefits from a very particular hype. Here, we embody a mafia betrayed and executed, however returned from the dead: for his revenge, he is armed with big guns and downright a huge tombstone with multiple functions to knock out anything that moves. We are therefore on a beat them all which mixes brutal martial arts and huge shootouts filled with explosions through an adventure that we are told will last a dozen hours.

Just Dance 2023

We are entitled to it every year and Ubisoft obviously does not miss the mark: Just Dance 2023 will land very soon with a refreshed playlist and some new features on the program. For this first, we can thus count on the arrival of hits like “Dynamite” by BTS among around forty songs, while new features include online multiplayer (up to five players), new 3D worlds and personalized experiences, which take your habits into account. Finally, the user interface is also changed to be more modern and intuitive. The ultimate party game.
