Sofia Coppola once again brings Priscilla and Elvis Presley to the big screen. These stars embody the two in the film “Priscilla”.
Sofia Coppola (51) has announced “Priscilla”, a film project that focuses on Elvis Presley (1935-1977) and Priscilla Presley (77). The two were married from 1967 to 1973. In 1968 their daughter Lisa Marie (54) was born. The film is based on the book “Elvis and Me” (1985), in which Priscilla Presley describes her view of her marriage. Coppola has already found her leading man.
Cailee Spaeny (25) and Jacob Elordi (25) will embody the two. This is reported by the US industry portal “Variety”. Spaeny is an American actress and singer who starred in the science fiction monster film ‘Pacific Rim: Uprising’ or the thriller ‘Bad Times at the El Royale.’ The Australian Elordi is best known for the film “Kissing Booth” and the television series “Euphoria”.
The 25-year-old has already confirmed his cast by posting an old black-and-white photo of the music legend on Instagram and captioning it with a simple “E”. The film is scheduled to start shooting in Toronto this fall. Coppola is responsible for the screenplay and direction and is involved as a co-producer.
Biopic premiered in June
Most recently, Austin Butler (31) played Elvis Presley in a biopic. In “Elvis” (2022) by director Baz Luhrmann (59), Olivia DeJonge (24) also played Priscilla Presley. The drama follows how a nondescript young musician from Tupelo, Mississippi, became the king of rock ‘n’ roll. Tom Hanks (66), who played music manager Tom Parker (1909-1997), Elvis’ notorious discoverer, also played a leading role in the film.
