In the second half of its car life, the Porsche Panamera gets a special model with the prestigious name “Platinum”. In addition to applications in the color of the same name, this special edition has extras that are well received by customers.

In the whole electric hype surrounding the Taycan, the Porsche Panamera has been drowned out a bit. This is also proven by the registration figures from the Federal Motor Transport Authority. In October, 551 models of the Stromer sold four times as many vehicles over the counter at German Porsche dealerships than the Panamera (135). The upper-class athlete only received a facelift last year, which was visually rather thin, but at least brought a few innovations to the chassis and the assistant.

Now the Zuffenhausen-based carmaker is adding the Platinum Edition for the Panamera, Panamera 4 and Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, which is also available for the Sport Turismo models. Only in China does the executive variant with an extended wheelbase complement the range of the special model. Externally, the special Panamera Edition plays the understatement card. Optical features are privacy windows, dark rear lights, side window strips in high-gloss black, black tailpipes of the sports exhaust system, while the 21-inch rims are painted in the eponymous color platinum.

With the package, Porsche sales strategists listened to the customers and include extras that are particularly popular when ordering a Panamera. These include adaptive air suspension including Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), lane change assistant, parking assistant including reversing camera, LED matrix main headlights including Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus), automatically dimming exterior mirrors and a panoramic roof. In the case of the hybrid models, the on-board AC charger with 7.2 kW charging power is part of the package; an 11 kW variant would be more appropriate here. After all, the Porsche Panamera 4 Platinum Edition costs 111,945 euros, the PHEV version is correspondingly more expensive.

In the interior, an analog clock on the dashboard and black door sill guards made of brushed aluminum, which are labeled “Platinum Edition” at the front, signal the equipment package. The driver of such a Panamera also grabs a GT sports steering wheel, uses the speed-dependent power steering, sits in 14-way comfort seats with Porsche crest in the headrests, while the rear passengers enjoy the heated seats. The Bose surround sound system provides sound for the interior and the doors close smoothly. The special model is celebrating its world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 17th. Deliveries will begin at the end of January 2022.
