Polling: Series of fires in Upper Bavaria – police assume intent – Bavaria

After several fires in the municipality of Polling in the Mühldorf am Inn district, the police are investigating intentional arson. As the police announced, three construction vehicles burned on company premises in the industrial area early on Monday morning. At around the same time, a fire was reported in a cable shaft on the Mühldorf – Freilassing railway line. There was also a third fire in a nearby forest, where a timber transport truck was on fire. According to the police, the fire brigade was able to quickly bring the fire under control and, according to initial findings, no one was injured. The police estimate the damage at 2.5 million euros.

The fire on the tracks caused disruptions and cancellations in rail traffic around Mühldorf on Monday. An emergency bus service was set up. The Südostbayerbahn called on travelers to postpone planned trips.

The police did not provide any information on Monday afternoon about the exact cause of the fire or possible perpetrators. However, all three fires are believed to have been intentional. The arson investigators from the Mühldorf criminal police are investigating under the direction of the Traunstein public prosecutor’s office. The police is asking for hints from the witnesses.
