3,000 car tuners met on Saturday evening at the Aicher site in Rosenheim. The police had already expected the meeting announced on social media, according to the Rosenheim police station. There was a major operation. The police’s conclusion: Three tuning vehicles were seized, two officers were slightly injured and insulted and attacked. The tuners feel they are being treated unfairly and have started a petition against police violence.

“Everyone was peaceful as always and had fun until the police came,” said a statement from the tuning group “Backlist Munich”, which organized the meeting in Rosenheim and, with its often thousands of participants, is the largest tuning group referred to in Germany. At their unannounced meetings, the car fans exchange ideas about their souped-up vehicles, do donuts in which they draw black circles on the asphalt with their tires or do “burn-outs”, which means they spin the car tires while stationary, to generate as much smoke and noise as possible.
The meeting started on Saturday evening in Traunstein and eventually moved to the Rosenheim district. At a later hour, pyrotechnics were said to have been ignited and shots were fired with a blank pistol. Officers from the Rosenheim police and surrounding departments as well as the riot police were on duty. Because the tuners did not comply with the police’s request to leave the Aicher site, the area was evacuated. According to reports, two police officers were injured. They suffered blast trauma from ignited pyrotechnics. An investigation was initiated against the detonator for grievous bodily harm. The police also seized three of the tuners’ vehicles.

According to “Blacklist Munich,” members of their group were also injured and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. For example, a 16-year-old who was a spectator at the meeting and, according to “Blacklist Munich”, was run over by the police and injured her leg. A 28-year-old who was pushed to the ground and restrained by the police during the large-scale operation is also said to have been injured. According to “Blacklist Munich,” he suffered several bruises. The Munich tuning group is currently collecting signatures for its petition against police violence and would like to use it to submit a supervisory complaint to the police.
