Pimkie accelerates store closures, eliminating 239 positions

Ready-to-wear in crisis. Put up for sale by the Mulliez group in 2022, the Pimkie brand remains in a precarious situation. Almost a year after its takeover, in February 2023, Pimkie announced, this Thursday, the acceleration of the closure of certain stores, causing the elimination of 197 positions in France. “This restructuring also involves the elimination of forty-two positions at the head office, out of 143,” management said in a press release.

At the end of June, the brand had already launched a first savings plan aimed at the gradual closure of sixty-three stores by 2027. The first twenty-three had closed their doors by December 31, 2023. During 2024, thirty-six additional stores will go out of business.

“For several months, the economic context, the drop in attendance at points of sale and inflation have had a considerable impact on sales and economic results”, argues the brand which wishes to diversify its activity “by affiliating fourteen other stores of its network under the Miniso brand, two of which were included in the closure plan of the first plan, and thus able to preserve 96 positions.
